I Keep Myself, My Pet and My Home Safe with a Security System

When I was a little kid, home security systems were mostly unheard of. I knew of these systems in some local businesses and all the local schools, but that was about it. It wasn’t that homes didn’t need them because they absolutely did. In fact, my own home that I shared with my siblings and my parents was robbed when we were away for shopping trip one day. Jump forward to the present time, and these systems are very common in many homes across the country now because they are easy to use and work well.

Living on my own has meant that I often found myself feeling a little fearful at night when I heard things go bump in the night. I am not someone who believes in guns, so I really have no way of defending myself outside of call the police. I do have a dog who barks at times, but he is mostly useless when it comes to defending our turf. He barks until whatever he is barking at moves toward him and then he runs away with his tail between his legs. So, getting a burglar alarm at home made good sense to keep both of us safe!

Now that my home is more secure, I still hear things outside at night and my dog does, too. However, I really feel good having all the stickers on my windows and the sign outside in my yard that alerts people that I have an alarm. The home next door to me was broken into just recently, but mine was not. I like to think that is because the criminals who burglarized their place saw the sign in my yard. It is worth every penny and it costs very little each month. I can even use my phone to monitor everything that is happening in my home when I’m away now.
